Our natural eyelashes can often be short, straight and simply not how we want them to be. Sometimes the constant coating of mascara can get frustrating as well as that last-minute rip of the falsies after a long day, and it may get difficult to maintain eyelash extensions whilst keeping up with a busy lifestyle. Even after trying some of the best eyelash curlers, it still may not give you the results you want, and this is where an eyelash lift comes in…
So What Actually Is A Lash Lift?
It extends the natural curl of your lashes from the root to the tip adding length and volume. A lash lift uses last around 6-8 weeks and will change the appearance of your eyes without the need for mascara, false eyelashes or extensions. It provides immediate results too which means you can be looking flawless straight after your treatment!
There are many different types of eyelash lifts but the most popular is an LVL lash lift which stands for length, volume and lift. It is a mixture of eyelash perming as well as eye lash tinting which will enhance your whole face and make your eyes really stand out.
How Should I Prepare For My Lash Lift?
Before your treatment you should make sure your natural eyelashes are cleaned and hygienic. Try not to use any mascara, especially not waterproof mascara prior to your appointment and refrain from using any eyelash curlers. To gain the best results, make sure that your lashes are dry and makeup free.
How Does It Work?
From the beginning your eyelashes are delicately cared for and prepped ready for your treatment. Depending on what type of lash lift you go for, the process may be slightly different.
However, within an LVL lash lift your natural eyelashes will firstly get covered in a serum/balm, that will almost stretch and straighten out your lashes from their root to the tip. This serum or balm allows your eyelash shape to be changed and your lash hairs to be straighten and then curled.
Your natural lashes will then be curled upwards, and the serum/balm will be left on from a minimum of 6 minutes to around 12. A setting solution will then be used to harder and keep your eyelash structurally curled. Sometimes salons will then use a conditioning lotion which protects your lashes.
Then, your lashes will then be tinted making your eyelashes seem darker and it therefore creates more volume.
How Long Does It Take?
Lash lifts vary from person to person, on average it takes around 45 to 60 minutes to complete a basic lash lift. With an eyelash tint included, it may take up to 75 minutes to complete.
What Happens After?
Within the first 48 hours after you have a lash lift, try not to get your eyelashes wet as it may affect the results you get and the curl may not last as long. Also, do not use any heat on them so be careful when drying your hair as it will then lead to them going back to their old shape.
If you want to use mascara over the top wait at least 48 hours and apply it after this time. Be wary when removing it not to rub or press down too hard on your lashes affecting the results that a professional has created.
Although, a lash lift is very low maintenance compared to the likes of eyelash extensions which is another benefit to getting it done! You can also use conditioning treatments on your lashes too, keeping them healthy and fresh.
